Info: Dehydroepiandrosterone (dhea) is a steroid hormone secreted from the adrenal glands and the brain that is used as a source to produce sex hormones. Dhea levels decrease with age (especially in women) and are connected to hormonal imbalances that cause Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, heart disease, AIDS inflammation, osteoporosis, depression, and immune disorders.

EFFECTS :

Dhea may be effective in treating depression, obesity, and osteoporosis. Additionally, research indicates that it can be beneficial for hormonal and sexual disorders and autoimmune diseases such as lupus, and maybe even used in treating schizophrenia, HIV, and serious trauma.

DOSAGE RANGE AND DURATION OF USE:

• Adrenal insufficiency: 25–50 mg/day
• Anxiety/depression in women: 30-450 mg/day

• Postmenopausal osteoporosis: initiate at 25 mg/day, increase to 100 mg/day

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

Hormonal side effects include oily skin, hair growth, deepened voice, decreased menstrual cycle, smaller breasts, and increased penis size in females, as well as breast tenderness, aggression, increased frequency of urination, or shrinking of the testicles for males. Both may be plagued with acne, insomnia, headaches, nausea, itching, and moodiness.
