Info: HMG 150IU contains menotropin, a gonadotropin preparation with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) activity. Menotropin is used in reproductive medicine to stimulate ovarian follicular development during fertility treatment and, in selected clinical cases, to support spermatogenesis in men with gonadotropin deficiency.

Follicular Development Research and Clinical Use: Menotropin provides FSH activity that supports the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles. In fertility treatment, its effects are monitored through ultrasound examinations and hormone measurements to assess follicular response and guide clinical management.

Gonadal Function: The LH activity of menotropin contributes to the regulation of gonadal hormone production. In men with certain forms of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, gonadotropin treatment may be used under specialist supervision to support testicular function and sperm production.

Dosage Range and Duration of Use

HMG 150IU contains 150 international units (IU) of menotropin per vial in a lyophilized powder form. In clinical fertility treatments for women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation, initial gonadotropin dosages typically range from 75 IU to 225 IU (0.5 to 1.5 vials) daily administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection, continued for 7 to 14 days based on follicular response and serum estradiol levels. 

Side Effects

Possible adverse effects associated with menotropin include headache, nausea, abdominal discomfort, bloating, and injection-site reactions. In women undergoing ovarian stimulation, an important potential complication is ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), which may cause abdominal pain, ovarian enlargement, fluid accumulation, rapid weight gain, or breathing difficulties. Fertility treatment may also increase the risk of multiple pregnancy.

In men, possible adverse effects include injection-site reactions, headache, and changes associated with altered gonadal hormone production. 

Post-Cycle Therapy

Menotropin is a gonadotropin preparation rather than an anabolic steroid or androgenic compound. Conventional post-cycle therapy (PCT) protocols used following anabolic steroid cycles are therefore not directly applicable. Menotropin may be prescribed for specific reproductive or endocrine conditions, including selected cases of gonadotropin deficiency, under specialist supervision.
