Info: Cabercare 0.5 from Careclub Pharmaceuticals contains 0.5 mg of cabergoline per tablet. Cabergoline is a long-acting dopamine D2 receptor agonist that primarily acts on the pituitary gland to suppress prolactin secretion. It is clinically used in the treatment of hyperprolactinemia and associated disorders, including conditions caused by prolactin-secreting pituitary adenomas. Its prolonged duration of action allows dosing at relatively infrequent intervals compared with shorter-acting dopamine agonists.

Effects

Cabergoline primarily stimulates dopamine D2 receptors in pituitary lactotroph cells, resulting in suppression of prolactin secretion. By reducing elevated prolactin concentrations, cabergoline can help normalize endocrine function and may improve symptoms associated with hyperprolactinemia.

Cabergoline also produces prolonged dopaminergic activity due to its long duration of action. Its effects on prolactin secretion are dose-dependent and are generally monitored through clinical assessment and laboratory measurement of serum prolactin levels.

Side Effects

Potential adverse effects associated with cabergoline may include nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, fatigue, abdominal discomfort, constipation, and orthostatic hypotension. Some patients may experience drowsiness or weakness, particularly when treatment is initiated or the dosage is increased.

More serious but less common risks include cardiac valvular abnormalities, fibrotic disorders, significant blood-pressure changes, and other cardiovascular complications. 

Dosage Range and Duration of Use

Cabercare 0.5 contains 0.5 mg of cabergoline per tablet. For hyperprolactinemia, treatment is initiated at 0.25 mg twice weekly (or 0.5 mg once weekly), gradually increased by 0.25 mg twice weekly at monthly intervals up to a typical maintenance dose of 0.5 mg to 1.0 mg twice weekly (maximum 4.5 mg per week). For prolactin control during cycle protocols, common off-label dosing is 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg every 3 to 4 days (twice weekly) for 4 to 6 weeks or until serum prolactin levels normalize. Cabergoline should be taken with meals. Dose adjustments and overall treatment duration must be based on medical evaluation and regular prolactin laboratory monitoring rather than made independently.  

Combination with Other Drugs

Cabergoline may interact with medicines that affect dopaminergic pathways, blood pressure, or cardiovascular function. Particular attention may be required when combining it with dopamine antagonists, other ergot-derived medicines, antihypertensive drugs, or medications that may increase the risk of orthostatic hypotension.
