Info: Evista 28x60mg contains raloxifene hydrochloride, a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used primarily for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Raloxifene has estrogen-like effects in bone tissue while acting as an estrogen antagonist in certain other tissues. By selectively interacting with estrogen receptors, raloxifene can help reduce bone resorption and maintain bone mineral density.

Effects

Bone Health: Raloxifene helps reduce bone turnover and supports the maintenance of bone mineral density in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or increased risk of osteoporosis.

Vertebral Fracture Risk: Clinical studies have shown that raloxifene can reduce the risk of vertebral fractures in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or increased fracture risk.

Selective Estrogen Receptor Activity: Raloxifene produces estrogen-like effects in some tissues, particularly bone, while exerting estrogen-antagonistic effects in other estrogen-responsive tissues.

Dosage Range and Duration of Use

The standard recommended dosage of raloxifene (Evista) for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis, as well as for reducing the risk of invasive breast cancer, is 60 mg taken orally once daily, with or without food. Therapeutic protocols are typically intended for long-term continuous use, spanning several years, with specific duration determined by the treating physician based on bone mineral density scans and individual risk factors. Supplemental intake of 1,000–1,200 mg of calcium and 400-800 IU of vitamin D daily is recommended if dietary intake is insufficient.   

Side Effects

The safety profile of raloxifene has been evaluated in clinical studies, although individual reactions may vary. Commonly reported adverse effects include hot flushes, leg cramps, peripheral edema, joint pain, headache, and gastrointestinal discomfort.

A clinically important risk associated with raloxifene is an increased incidence of venous thromboembolic events, including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Raloxifene may also increase the risk of fatal stroke in certain postmenopausal women with established cardiovascular risk factors. Medical attention should be sought if sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing up blood, or unexplained swelling or pain in a leg occurs.

Post-Cycle Therapy

Evista 28x60mg contains raloxifene hydrochloride and is not an anabolic steroid, androgenic compound, or testosterone-suppressing agent. Conventional post-cycle therapy (PCT), as used following anabolic steroid cycles, is therefore not applicable. Evista is a prescription medicine primarily used for the management of postmenopausal osteoporosis and should be used according to appropriate medical guidance.
